Our Client Care Team

Our friendly and knowledgeable reception and admin team keep the practice ticking. They are your first point of contact and will be able to answer your query or find someone else who can. All our receptionists have pets themselves, so understand how upsetting it can be to have an ill or injured animal, and will do their best to make you feel relaxed and welcome.

Jacqui Warwick - Head Receptionist and Practice Admin (Biggar)

Jacqui is one of our longest-serving members of staff, having been part of the team in the Biggar surgery since 2005. Jacqui knows most of the Two Rivers Vets clients very well, and always provides excellent service with a reassuring and sympathetic manner. As well as having responsibility for reception, Jacqui also keeps up with increasing amounts of admin as the practice grows.

Jacqui grew up in Symington and now lives in Biggar, and loves to work within her local community. At home she has a cat called Nugget and a Jack Russell called Sprout.

Natasha Pearce - Receptionist (Biggar)

Tasha Pearce

Tasha joined us in 2021, having moved to Scotland with her fiance and 12 year old son in 2019. She is originally from Cornwall, though more recently lived in Maryland, USA for 12 years. Tasha has a wealth of previous experience as a receptionist in hotels and hospitality, and has very much enjoyed her transition into the veterinary world. She wishes she had done it sooner! She has loved getting to know all the clients and their pets, and learning about farming (inspired by helping with lambs in the carpark!). Tasha is working towards the British Veterinary Receptionists Association Silver Award.

Her hobbies include travelling, exploring Scotland, reading, crafts, and running around after Isla her crazy sprocker pup and her ragdoll Talia.

Kirsty Cross - Receptionist (Biggar)

Kirsty receptionist

Kirsty first came to Two Rivers as a Student Veterinary Nurse after securing a place at SRUC Barony. Unfortunately ill health interrupted her studies, and for now, she is taking a break from her goal of becoming a veterinary nurse. In March 2021, we were delighted to welcome Kirsty back as a receptionist in the Biggar surgery, although her eventual aim is completing her vet nurse training to become a fully qualified RVN. Kirsty has completed her British Veterinary Association Bronze Award and has started on Silver.

Kirsty’s lifelong passion is animals, in particular her beloved Shetland ponies. She also keeps bantam hens, and enjoys relaxing with a spot of gardening.

Dianne Smith - Receptionist (Biggar)

Dianne joined Two Rivers in 2022, already with veterinary receptionist experience having previously worked in a busy small animal practice. She is currently completing the BVRA Silver Award on her way to being an Accredited Veterinary Receptionist. Dianne enjoys meeting people, and helping owners and their pets. She loves the fact that every day is different, and realises that while owners need us to help with the happy times, there are sad times and stressful situations too.

Away from the practice, Dianne lives on a small farm with cows, sheep, horses, geese, chickens, and her 4 Labradors and 10 Jack Russell Terriers!

Lloyd joined the practice as a part-time receptionist in 2017, having a background in nursing and social services, and with ten years feline behavioural experience gained working for a national charity.  Lloyd brings a lot of energy and “cheer” to the practice, and is kind, compassionate and sensitive. He has recently achieved the British Association of Veterinary Receptionists Silver Award.

Lloyd currently has 2 indoor rescue cats. The last couple of years have seen him rekindle his love for horses and he now has a 7 year old Irish Sports Horse called Oakie who he enjoys common ridings with, and he is looking forward to pursuing endurance riding too.

Mandy Whitehead - Receptionist and Animal Care Assistant (Peebles)

Mandy joined us in October 2018, and currently works part-time hours fitted around looking after her young family. Mandy works on reception and shares responsibility for the Peebles surgery admin, but she is also a qualified Animal Care Assistant, having received a National Diploma in Animal Care in 2001. Mandy has a wealth of experience with small animals and horses having owned both from a young age. Mandy has achieved her BVRA Silver Award and is heading for Gold next.

Mandy says ‘I am thrilled to be working alongside the vets in my local community to help care for their pets and livestock, keeping them both happy and healthy.’

Sarah Laing - Receptionist (Peebles)

Sarah joined the practice in August 2023, already having 5 years experience as a veterinary receptionist. She previously worked as a lab technician. In addition to having her Bronze Award from the British Veterinary Receptionist Association, Sarah is also an Amtra CSQP, gaining this qualification from Harper Adams University in 2019.

Sarah says 'My favourite part of my job has to be seeing the animals (and of course their owners), greeting them as they arrive for appointments, getting lots of cuddles and kisses from animals through out the day’. In her free time she looks after her little girl, planning new adventures with her friends and family, or enjoying a cosy night in with a movie.

Fiona Black BVMS CertVA PgCertVBM FHEA MRCVS (Practice Admin)

Fiona has been ‘behind the scenes’ at Two Rivers since 2005, providing HR and marketing support to the practice. Fiona works mainly from home while looking after five children, two horses, two ponies and two cats. She also works one day a week at the R(D)SVS in Edinburgh, teaching anaesthesia to final year veterinary students.

Fiona has loved seeing the practice grow successfully from two vets to six vets, and from a team of five to twenty-five altogether. This is mainly due to the dedication of all the vets, nurses and receptionists in providing such a fantastic level of service to clients and their pets.
