Our Surgeries

The practice was originally founded by Les Clerihew, who set up his own single-handed practice in Biggar and later opened a small branch surgery in Peebles. When Les retired in 2005, Trevor took over and LW Clerihew became Two Rivers Veterinary Practice. Over the last twenty years we have increased from two vets to eight vets, and from four employees to thirty. Both premises were extended and considerably updated over the years, and more recently a move into brand new much larger premises in Peebles has been a major development. We agree with Les that the area is a fantastic place to live and work, with so many lovely clients, and hope that our ongoing improvements would have met with his approval.

The Biggar surgery was orginally two residential flats with outdoor stone steps leading to the upstairs at the back.  We were delighted to complete major renovations in 2010 to bring the stairs inside, extend the ward/kennels and to add an office/staff room upstairs. The rest of the building was updated in 2014.

The surgery has a reception area/waiting room, consulting room, pharmacy, ward/kennels, operating theatre, prep room (which has extra kennels for patients recovering from surgery and laboratory facilities), and a staff office.

The Peebles surgery in Old Town was orginally only open a couple of hours per day, with a reception/waiting room at the front and consulting room at the back.  In 2007 we knocked through into the next door premises and created an operating theatre and ward/kennels as well.

In September 2025 we moved to long awaited much larger pupose-built premises in Cavalry Park, providing parking and grassy space outside away from main roads.

We consult and operate daily in both surgeries, and can have inpatients in both premises.  We have vets and vet nurses based in each surgery each day, with the out-of-hours vet covering both surgeries.
